A Sip of Paris

December 20, 2010

This quite possibly might be the most romantic drink ever made.Popping up on cocktail menus all over NYC, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur is a delectable addition to your cocktail repertoire.

As legend has it, elderflowers are gathered by 40-50 men pedaling the Alpen French countryside and then distilled into an irresistible nectar.

The Los Angeles Times called the liqueur, “its own beast: part pear, part honeysuckle, part ambrosia of the gods … possibly the most delicately delicious concoction of flower and booze known to man.”

The glamorous 12″ bottle imported from France makes for a stylish addition to any bar or a fantastic gift.

There are dozens are drinks to try, but the Signature St. Germain Cocktail is an excellent start:

2 parts Brut Champagne or Dry Sparkling Wine
1 ½ parts St-Germain
2 parts Sparkling Water or Club Soda

Method: Fill a tall Collins glass with ice. Add Champagne first, then St-Germain, then Club Soda. Stir completely.* Garnish with a lemon twist, making sure to squeeze essential oils into the glass.

I personally prefer to just add some to my champagne. Perfection!
