Spiced Banana Bread with Lemon Glaze

Here is a family recipe for a deliciously moist and scrumptious Banana Bread. It’s a true classic that is chock full of bananas unlike many recipes for banana bread which shockingly sometimes contain only one banana! It also contains warm spices such as nutmeg, allspice and cloves that give it a lovely aroma and rich flavor. The finishing touch is a tart lemon glaze that complements the sweetness of the ripe bananas beautifully. Bake this bread to have around the house for breakfast or an afternoon snack. This is the real deal. Enjoy!

    Frozen Almond Butter Banana Bites

I recently whipped up a batch of a very fun and healthy treat that I couldn’t wait to share, Frozen Almond Butter Banana Bites. They are pretty simple to make and a really satisfying mini frozen treat. I keep a batch in the freezer if I want something sweet, but I don’t want a full serving of ice cream. When the banana and almond butter freezes, it has an ice-cream like texture and the chocolate coating tastes like a proper chocolate covered ice cream bar. Enjoy!!

    Almond Butter Rice Cakes

I am so excited to share with you all my latest food obsession: almond butter. Luckily, almond butter is not only delicious and satisfying, but it is good for you too. I hate to admit it, but I learned about this snack from a recent episode of Dr. Oz where Snooki (yes, Jersey Shore Snooki), was on the show to share the diet she used to drop 42 pounds

    Chocolate Chip Banana Bites

If you are looking for the perfect home-baked, bite-sized, sweet snack, you are in luck with these adorable Chocolate Chip Banana Bites. This is actually a Weight Watchers recipe that I tweaked and modified just a bit. Made in mini muffin pans, these banana bites are low in fat since they do not contain any oil or butter. The mashed ripe bananas provide moistness and bind the muffins together along with vanilla yogurt and oats for texture. The addition of mini chocolate chips makes you really feel like you are indulging, but without the guilt. Enjoy!

    Healthy Chunky Banana Bran Muffins

There is nothing better than a healthy, hearty bran muffin so I set out to create one full of sweet, chunky bananas. With the addition of nonfat Greek yogurt, I was able to reduce the amount of oil in the recipe and still maintain the moistness and texture of a traditional bran muffin. For lots of fiber and healthy grains, I added wheat bran and wheat germ, along with a combination of light brown sugar and molasses for sweetness. A teaspoon of freshly grated orange zest adds a subtle citrus twist. Most banana muffin recipes call for small, diced pieces of banana that pretty much blend in, but I wanted these muffins to be chunky, so I cut the bananas slices thick. Once baked and cooled, you will have a dozen golden brown bran muffins, chock full of distinct bananas and chewy grains. Enjoy!

    Chocolate Covered Banana Pops Recipe

This weekend my Mom and I made Chocolate Banana Pops for a delicious and healthy summertime dessert. Not only are these pops easy and fun to make, but they are a fabulous way to get a chocolate fix while enjoying fruit at the same time! The pops can be served refrigerated or frozen for an ice-cream-like treat. Try both ways and see which one you like best. Either way, you will keep coming back for more!!

Creamy (and healthy) Blueberry Banana Smoothie

I just got back from the gym and made my favorite post-workout snack…. a Blueberry Banana Smoothie. This smoothie is not only delicious and satisfying, but it is good for you too. I know you are thinking anything creamy is not healthy, but trust me on this one. The secret? Adding lowfat cottage cheese. It creates the smoothest and creamiest smoothie you’ve ever had. Perfect for a snack or healthy dessert. Check out recipe below and enjoy!
