Leonidas Chocolates

This past weekend I checked out famed Belgian chocolatier Leonidas in Midtown, NYC. This tiny boutique, nestled between the posh hotels and fashion houses that line Madison Avenue, features an exclusive assortment of Belgian chocolate and Belgian pralines, truffles, orange peel, and marzipan, all imported straight from Brussels. When you walk into the shop, there is something so very European about the shopping experience and that is precisely what I was looking for when I sauntered in on a blustery Saturday in January. Brussels, known as the “Chocolate Capital Of The World,” has more chocolate factories than any other city in the world, so it is no surprise they produce and export some of the most creamy and delicious chocolates ever made. They have some really unique choices, such as Truffe Speculoos, an intense dark chocolate truffle with a crispy biscuit center.

Leonidas is renowned for its scrumptious pralines, so if you love the nutty taste of these special chocolates, you are in luck at this boutique. I chose an assortment of my favorite varieties and savored each and every last bite!
