NYC: Momofuku Milk Bar… Dessert Heaven on Earth

Momofuku Milk Bar is a premiere NYC destination for the most innovative, decadent, mouth-watering treats around! You will not find more unique or masterfully executed pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, soft serve ice cream, milkshakes and cake truffles (yes cake truffles). Upon entering this den of food fabulousness, you will first notice a large chalkboard overhead with the day’s scrumptious offerings. If you can’t make it into one of their NYC stores, you are in luck because they are now shipping their delicacies across the US. Let me take you through my favorites now!!

If it’s your first time to Milk Bar, you have to try a piece of Momofuku’s famous crack pie. Like it’s namesake, this pie is so rich and mouth-watering, you will soon become addicted. Containing just butter, heavy cream, sugar, brown sugar and corn flour, this pie has an ooey, gooey, moist butterscotch-like filling and a crisp cookie crust.

 

On to the cookies… with choices ranging from double chocolate to corn to compost (complete with pretzels and potato chips) to blueberries and cream, you can’t go wrong with any of Momofuku’s cookies. My favorite is the “cornflake cookie,” a crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside concoction of marshmallows, cornflakes and chocolate chips. The combination is to die for!

 

 

Next, let’s talk about the scrumptious little bites they like to call “cake truffles.” Cake truffles are essentially pieces of moist cake formed into round, ball-shaped, truffle-size treats. Try the Birthday Cake Truffles, a vibrant combination of a vanilla cake base and funfetti sprinkles all dipped in a sweet, white chocolate “frosting” glaze.

 

 

Another wildly popular item is Cereal Milk — a creamy, silky milk that tastes like the sweet bottom of your cereal bowl when you eat all the cereal and there is only milk left – it really tastes like it!

 

 

Lastly, the soft-serve selections are unlike any ice cream / frozen yogurt you have had before. With flavors like crack pie, cereal milk, candy bar pie and red velvet, you will adore this rich and creamy frozen treat with a velvety, custard-like texture.
